8:37am
I met with a friend of mine last weekend. he has been battling with bouts of depression off and on for over the last year now. You know the usual causes...money, job, weight gain/loss, and the overall headiness of responsibility. As a regualr schmoe thos ethings can be an impediemnt to overcome but for those like my friend who is an artist it is akin to mental constipation. I know that metaphor is dauntingly graphic but its the most accurate description I can convey to someone. That's what I have been trying to help him through. It's taking small steps to get through it but it seems he is really making progress. Once he sees the passion again in drawing maybe he'll begin following his desire to digitally color. I thought he might also would have taken advantage of the borrowed audio equipment from the company studio to do some kind of audio podcast/blog thing to work out his thoughts. That kind of thing is great when working on story notes for projects like scripting, writing, or webcomics. Its pure inspiration any way you look at it. I hope to hear something from him soon. I am trying to work with each of my GIRAF peers on their craft. Bochi's current receipe submission for the FCBD is going great. He has involved many artists to outline his writing talents on that preview. I am impressed with the project and can offer him any advice he may seek on it. Poppieseed had to delay her first official H2Club Lesson on Storytelling/scripting thsi Thursdya to next Thursday at 6:30 pm. We will be working on placing her two current stories into a Metaplot framework as well as how to script out those stories for continuity. Its a lot when you think how little time we have during the summer to get things accomplished. Things I am trying to complete asap... - GNPresents #0 for FCBD - Soba-Ko#2 - Land of Zoa #3 of 5 - HeroCentral universe #4 - Next...#16 - Summer Grant Proposal
9:30am crap. I have got to do that interview with Shadrick Wright. His schedule is as bad as mine these days. He said he can skype audio the interview any Monday through Friday before 3pm but his weekends are always crazy. I also need to send that Giraf Contact page to Bochi for that inker over in England who is looking to collaborate on some comic pages...his name was German carratala Martinez. I need to complete that today sometime too.
11:20am I am gonna have to go online tonight and post my Facebook GIRAF commentary. I won't have internet access Saturday at all. Sunday will be worse with me having to complete the six copies of my niece's Activity Booklet. She has a few fellow students ready to buy them from her. ARRGGHHH!!!
11:30am
I have just looked back at everything that I have done over the last few days. I tried to start balancing my life out since my birthday this past April 9th. Somehow I think I am failing at this, lol. 4/14/11- Input the US Nanoman pages into GNPresents#0, Next16 tutorial, and all three ads for FCBD 4/15/11- Finish inking Bad Dreams, HCU #5 preview for FCBD 4/16/11- Met Jingai at 3pm Dunwoody for Art peptalk, Medieval Times reservation pm Discover Mills 4/17/11- Scan in all Bad dreams pages, print out on cardstock Page Home Page Universe 2011-2012 pyt $89.50 4/18/11- Paint Bad Dreams pages 4/19/11- Paint Bad Dreams pages, compile may schedule to date 4/20/11- Paint Bad Dreams pages, Re-write the H2Club Storytelling I lesson for adults 4/21/11- ... paint Bad Dream pages...again!
Now I am planning to have a small soire on 4/23/11 from 4-10p for some of my Dr. Who fans. We are honoring the loss of Elisabeth Sladen, our favorite decade crossing dr Who companion from the 1970s through to the 2000s. Her passing this past week was shocking to us all. So we will be watching The Sarah Jane Adventures whiel snacking on proteins and dairy amidst the Jammie Dodgers.
Come 9pm on BBC America however , we will be partaking of the newest episode of Dr. Who. It was filmed in Utah actually. yes on the sands of the middle of America for truth. They have never filmed on US soil to date. Its quite exciting. So exciting I might wear a bowtie and a fez for the event. Whew Hew!
1:00pm Going to lunch now. I am heading over to Hobby LObby to pick up a set of Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils. They are the best I found to use for heavy line work as well as blending in lighter values. Today they are having a 30% off sale on color pencils. Whew Hew! can't miss out on that. I seem to have lent out all my watercolors and supplies over the last six months. either that or the Art Supply fairies are playing bad tricks on me....
2:00pm Well i didnt get the Prismacolor brand watercolor pencils this time. I didnt have an extra $40 on me. So instead I bought a 5 pencil watercolor set that came with a brush and carrying tin from reeves. I have used their watercolors in the tubes so I'll take a chance on the pencils. That was only $3.99 and on sael 30%. I also picked up a Langford watercolor brick tin set with brush for $8.99. I walked out of one of my favorite stores having spent under $13.00. Not bad for my budget!
2:30pm I didnt tell anyone really but I fractured my first metatarsal in March of this year. I have no idea how I got that fracture in my left foot. It explains so much once I got the XRay from the MD office next door. I went to dinner with the family before the day we were going to The GA Aquarium and then I awoke the next morning unable to put my foot in my shoe as it was slightly swolen but painful to the touch...any touch. I went ahead and went to the aquarium with the family. It was an aching trip but through breakfast, the aquarium, and dinner at Felini's Pizza on Pnice de Leon Ave, I survived only to want to die on Sunday the next day. My foot was swollen beyond belief. I thought I had gout or arthritis. Dummy me. I never went to the doctor to see about it. Well after fighting the affliction I finally got the xray and found the problem. By this point I have stopped hobbling like a penguin, no cast, no boot, no crutches. Its almost healed after six weeks. What a pain but I do have more sympathy for the people I work with now that come in with fractures.
2:59 I sent out a Happy Earth Day email with the Joyce Kilmer Tree poem to a few of my email friends. My Republican friends will be shocked to learn that it wasn't just Democrat Senator Gaylord Nelson back in 1970 who started the Earth Day Awareness movement. Republican Representative Paul McCloskey from california , a graduate from Stanford University, served as co-chairman of the event that day. Not everyone who actually cares about the environment are "homicidal hippies" ( but some are in fact ). Its like I have always said when involving situations with radicals, whether its Anti-Vietnam groups or the Catholic Church, lets stop pointing fingers at what was done in the past but rather look to see if any good is being brought forth from their actions today. See why I am an Independent from this respective angle. I can see the truth from both sides and still think for myself.

| Crazy weekend of Balancing Life..let me just be a Workaholic! |
[21 Mar 2011|07:34pm] |
|
This weekend has been tremendously busy overall for most of the staffers at GIRAFNetwork. Some at Furry Weekend Atlanta while others are hammering through writer's block. I have completed the inking and scanning on Hero Central Universe #3, cover by Jason Bullock & Steve Lisefski. Lettering chores await me as does the completion of Soba-ko#2's cover. I am used to trying to complete so much all the time but this weekend I was trying to live up to a promise I made to my friends and seek balance in my life. So today, Saturday 19th, I cut several acres of grass for my grandmother, went to my nieces party for an hour, watched 3 cooking shows, watched Who's line is it anyway? Had dinner with my other sister and my friend Rome, and had two pwesronal conversations with two other friends...all before posting tonight on my nihjt Saturday. Whew! Balancing a real life is hard work... :)- Jason Bullock, GIRAFNetwork CEO.

| Back for more! |
[02 Nov 2010|07:50pm] |
LJ 11_2_10
Crazier and crazier efforts are here to punch me over the edge. These last few months have nearly gotten me there. I have had to take on the bulk of the GIRAF efforts for a lot of the October-December projects while the others take their "time off". Maybe I sound bitter to many but to my inner voice I can justify it all as I shoulder the weight of the organization. I am hoping that the others can come back on board for January with renewed vigor and determination to make 2011 a successful GIRAFNetwork year.
(( If there are more people who want to be involved in the behind the scenes fo GNET then please contact me!!! ))
I know that December we are starting up a fun project called GIRAFTV which will air on Youtube come January 2011. You'll get to see funny skits, art tutorials, events and video updates of all the people involved at GIRAFNetwork. We are even planning a television mystery serial that will air throughout the months, a few cooking shows, and how to segment tucked in there as well. Its gonna be fun!
I have found some free editing software that is noncommercial but I want to try to utilize on our finished product as we wont be making money from these episodes on Youtube. The big find is the iConcert Video converter from Brookstone for around $100 dollars. It converts analog video to digital formats. We can then use our software to edit the segments into the monthly show. I can't wait to get it to start working with my system. According to the ad you dont even have to have a computer to process the conversion as it is all self contained. What a find!
I have gotten two analog digital cameras from my brother to use on the project. A Sony palm cam for closeup shots and a larger stationary camcorder for wider shots. It can be set up on a tripod and used more like a television camera on set. I have to go ahead and prep the batteries so I can get them charged for field use.
Another little piece of freeware I picked up from CamStudio will allow me to record anything on my laptop screen. It even can record sound when a microphone is plugged it. I'll be able to record drawing tutorials as well as show other digital segments from the internet that way. I think I'll set up the segment to look like someone is exploring crazy crap from the internet like you do when you "stumble" upon sites. Thats cool and its efficient.
I guess now I'll go ahead and start designing the pilot episode. I need to figure out what we'll need to put into it that way GIRAF can promote it online with clips, featurettes, and advertisements on the website or CD magazine. I know that we can do a small press review show including other indie comics, interview with artists/writers, and a whole bunch of ranting & raving on mainstream art issues. I figure that the first show will be 30 minutes long, with each segment lasting no longer than 3 to 9 minutes in length. We can then look at the other show ideas for later release including a possible animation series called House of Renquist done in FLASH, voiced by actors. I also want to check witn my friend Bruce Gray, who does organ music, who might be able to compose a spooky theme song for the serial. So many ideas so little brain power.

| Back from the Ashes |
[24 Jul 2010|07:09pm] |
Well here I am back from the ashes of a fiery summer. The last months of not posting here is not a path of neglect but one of overwhelming job duties. I have been working extra hours at Select PT just to make ends meet during the week since they knocked us down to 32 hours a week instead of 40. SO a couple of extra hours at my clinic and 4 extra hours on Wednesday afternoon each week. I am able to pay for all the other things with GIRAF as well as staying close to my bills. As for what I have been doing at GIRAF...well with Leslie going on a 2 month sabbatical my duties have once again doubled in my path of operations. Keith's moving has not made things easier this month either. So Rome, Marques, and I have taken on more to tackle the everyday running of the company. We are a work in progress but things are getting done, even with the additional project of the Fernbank Museum Dinosaur Exhibit in October this year. We hadn't planned a budget for that project but thanks to Rome we are well on the way to completion. AS for Marques, he is handling the next 2 months of editing print projects Neo-Kyoto 12 and DangerZone 8. These two books will be going to print in August for September release in time for AWA. Having completed the Next14 digital magazine for the quarter, July Atlanta Comic Convention show, and two grant applications last month, we are heading into a busy end of summer/fall. So I guess here is a rundown of what I need to work on here for the month of August...
- Complete penciling/inking/lettering HeroCentralUniverse #2 - thumbnail out Land of Zoa #3 of 5 - Complete the Fernbank 16 page color event comic - complete my coloring pages for the Fernbank Activity book - get the Wizard Atlanta Con artist alley table - get the base components for the Audio Badges for AWA, Fernbank, and WizardCon ATL
Thats a lot. I guess I better get back to work ! Seeya!

| What a week, Part Nth |
[12 May 2010|09:13pm] |
LJ_5/12/10 What a week, Part Nth
This has been yet another extension into the first week of extreme activity this year. I have not stopped to tackle half the projects on my current docket. Its frustrating. I just got out two packages in the mail that were supposed to go out in April. One I had promised an artist I call "Low Tech" that I would send her some inking supplies. The second I needed to send out a couple of issues of Land of Zoa #2 to Steve Lisfesfky for doing an awesome color job on that issue's cover. Well they went out this week. I am trying to get the GIRAF corporate ledgers caught for Finance Dept as well. I had to modify my regular 6 week how to create a comic class into a 2 hour slot for 2 seventh grade classes for my co-worker olivia Townshend. Friday night past Olivia, Marques, and I volunteered our face painting skills for the Relay For Life as part of the Gwinnett Medical Center team. Two of my friends from our Brainfreeze Report team, Jingai & Bochi za rasu, headed down to check out the clean up efforts down in New Orleans this weekend past. You can check out all their updates over at www.herocentral.org on the BrainFreeze Report. Their reviews are gonna be on LJ and Facebook at HC Cultureshock. Check things out!
I am having to really clean up all the GIRAF stuff at my place this week. My landlord is making an inspection of the place this Saturday evening to check out all the fixtures, appliances, and carpet. I hate cleaning up!!!!!

| Cars fixed and Books ordered!!! |
[03 Apr 2010|10:04pm] |

Well I accomplished that at least today. The break pads work great. Thanks Bochi and Express Lube. It cost me a little more to get the breaklines flushed but worth it. I also placed the re-rder for the Free COmic Book Day release and ordered Neo-Kyoto 11 as well as H2CLub:Innovations. All have been ordered to be shipped by the Tuesday for May2nd Atlanta Comic Convention. Thanks everyone. Now I am going to make sure that all the files are ready for the print job! Night...

| I am so busy today !!!!! |
[03 Apr 2010|12:04pm] |
I am so busy today!!!!!!!
After working at Select PT Friday till 4:00, I had to go over to PepBoys and pick up my new front end brake pads. Oh didnt I tell you? Thursday afternoon I heard the brakes screech when I slowed at the light. It progressively got worse that night. By Worse I mean louder! :O SO Friday I texted Bochi_za_rasu over at PepBoys to get him to hold me a set of front brake pads, ergo what I was doing in Snellville at 4:30. I talked to Bochi and PoppieSeed for a few minutes then went to pick RPDresidentevil for the GIRAF Staff meeting. SO I drove to Atlanta, picked him up from work , went by his apartment to get a change of clothes and then drove us both back to Snellville for the staff meeting. That went okay considering we were missing two staffers. We did talk about the new marketing strategy as well as setting up our GIRAF meetings with the VP of Exhibitions for Fernbank Science Museum. I took Marques back to his apartment in Atlanta then headed home. On a total whim I went to take a break around 10:30. I stopped by Hollywood 24 Regal and watched the newly released Clash of the Titans. I figured I would go ahead and see that because next week is so busy with the new Jim Butcher book CHanges coming out Wednesday (I hate you PoppieSeed for getting your copy already :D ). I know that I will be absorbed into that book for the 3 or 4 days after its release this Wednesday. So I get home totally tired around 2am from Atlanta then crash totally on my futon!!! I wake up to a phone call from my friend Spider at 7:00 only realize that I overslept. HUGE AMOUNTS OF CRAPPPPP!!!!!
I get up and out of my place by 7:30 and into the yard to help my dad move three tractors, two of which we were able to get totally moved onto the trailer that hooks up to my grandmother's Bravada. Siphoning gas, airing up tires, and wrenching my lower right calf, covered in grease as well as ick! Thats all doen by 10:30 am. My dad, brother, and brother-in-law took off the roped in steer of broken metal that were tractors and took them off to the ladfill in Monroe where they will recycle the metal. I on the other hand made my way to Express Lube in Snellville to meet up with Chris who Bochi hooked me up with to do the break job over the next few hours. So here I am its 12noon in Wendy's next door wasting the next 2 or 3 hours waiting for my car. Guess what! Its not over then. I have to head back to Atlanta and meet Marques this evening to complete the production work on Neo-Kyoto #11 before placing the order for all three books tonight from Ka-Blam.com in time. Tomorrow's plans are no better, lol. Completing another copy of my niece McKenzie's activity/coloring book Land of Never NeverWhere then cutting grass in my yard as well as washing clothes sometime that night. Eating and sleeping come a distant 3rd or 4th to the priorities of the weekend :)

| Been a While...Sorry! |
[27 Mar 2010|07:26pm] |
Been A While...Sorry.
I know its been a while everyone since I was able to write here. It has been a crazy last few months in my meager existence. As you can see, I am once again an Uncle. My sister Abby gave birth to an adorable little boy, 8lbs 12 oz and 19" in length. The family is a bit overwhelmed, especially my grandmother whose tears these last couple of days have been for the fact that my grandfather who passed away in December almost saw his third great grandchild. That just was not meant to be. If I were an animist, I would say that for a new life to enter the world, an old one must exit this world. Its a good thing I don't prescribe to that spiritual notion, :) GIRAFNetwork has been working overtime on producing some new releases including Danger Zone #7, H2Club:Innovations, Neo-Kyoto #11, Land of Zoa #2 of 5, GIRAFSpots Newsletters for January, February, and March 2010, and Next...#13. This past month we attended MOMOCON over at Ga Tech Student Center. It was a successful show for us. It looks like next year the MOMOCON management will taking a new direction. They are changing directorship as Jess Merriman will be working on the MOMOCON on Tour part of the organization while Chris Stuckey will be handling the main event so to speak. They will also most likely be changing locations to handle the larger crowds of fan attendees. This show may mark the beginning of the last free show for this anime organization. Some changes are needed if its to surivive into another year. We'll see. We did make some great contacts since January however. GIRAFNetwork will be working with Fernbank Museum here in Atlanta to develop and produce their kids exhibition coloring book for this year's Mythic Age exhibition. Its gonna be a great opportunity to work with the Atlanta State Education department and really get even more noticed across the southeast. We are really looking forward to this opportunity. We are also privilaged to have the new Wizardworld Atlanta Convention start up in December this year. I am looking forward to attending this new show ! Well till later....to of my new nephew.Check out the pix of my nephew over at Facebook.com under the HC Culture Shock site. Salute!

| 2010...Yes I said 2010. |
[06 Jan 2010|08:39pm] |
2010 is the year now. January has begun to see its hardships rise from the miasma of the 2008-09 financial crisis. The only thing that was not stricken down entirely was the entertainment industry. Once again people need their escapism. Bless them, :) People still want to remove themselves from the reality that they are mired in and wade around in the pool of another's mind as long as they can afford it. Its been like that throughout history so why stop in this far flung new decade of the 2000s.
The gang and I just finished another Brain Freeze Report this past Sunday over at Jing_ai's apartment. We got the opportunity to talk about a the many small press books coming out from the United Fanzine Organization Cooperative over the past few months. You can listen to the podcast over at www.herocentral.org then check out the releases through the website http://unitedfanzineorganization.moonfruit.com . I'll need to go ahead and mail Nic "the Chairman" carcieri my $20 dues for 2010 next week when I get the money. I am already into January with one 16 page release under my belt so to speak. I released out HeroCentral Universe #1 and Land of Zoa #2 is going to print next week in time for a March release with 2 conventions. Momocon and Furry Weekend Atlanta are back to back weekends in march this year. Great opportunities to see us so please pre-register for these shows in Atlanta. In the meantime you'll be able to meet the writer of Danger Zone's premiere series Solitude on February 7th at the Atlanta Comic Convention. Jerome Montgomery will be there attending with writer and editor Keith Daniell from GIRAFNetwork. Check them out cause the book is smoking!
On another personal note, I wanted to thank everyone for their positive thoughts, support, and energy during the passing om grandfather. My family is much appreciative as am I.
I picked up the DVD release of Angels & Demons based on Dan Brown's novel before The Da Vinci Code. I still really enjoyed this less controversial sequel than the first film. It still warranted a second viewing upon purchase so I was thrilled with that. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince fell painfully short of the book however. The DVD reminded me why was so upset last year with the theatrical release. I say wait till you see the copy for your purchase hit the bargain bin before shelling out money for your collection. I was thrilled to find out that they will be unveiling Harry Potter in LEGO format though as well as a Universal theme park in Orlando, Florida. I will be going for that event. That will be a vacation weekend to remember. I will have to save my pennies up for that one.
Time to post HC CUltureShock now on LJ and on Facebook. Peace out!

| Holiday Blues and Renews... |
[27 Dec 2009|10:49am] |
I hope all have surived the first half of the holidays this winter ending of 2009. Things have been topsy-turvey for my family these last two weeks with the passing of my grandfather, the patriarch of my family for the last 60 years. He as 82 years old when he passed, married 62 years to my grandmother. He practically raised me while my parents both worked to bring in money for the family of seven. It wasn't easy, but he instilled in me the value of working hard for what you want to accomplosh in life ( among a few other less reputable skills, lol). He will be missed!!!
Despite this all, my team was able to put out three releases from GIRAFNetwork by December 4th. HeroCentral Universe #1, Danger Zone #7, and Neo-Kyoto #10 all completed and back from the orinters by the first week of January. Thanks to Cayce Moyer, Jerome Montgomery, Leslie Bullock, and Marques Huff for working your fingers to the bone on all these great stories!
A few more projects to tackle starting this week including the coloring/activity project called Land of Never, Never Where... by Mckenzie Rogers. She is the youngest writer that I have worked with to date being only 7 years old. She developed a great imaginary world of magical horses, fabled realm travel, and paperdolls. It comes out week one in January. Watch the website www.girafnetwork.org for previews and how to get your copies.
Well I am off to be domestic then sleep as I was up almost all night watching Masked Rider episodes from Japan. NIGHT!

| Sorry...I have been away too long with family issues. |
[08 Dec 2009|11:05am] |
Sorry everyone! I have been dealing with my grandfather's downward spiral with bone cancer. He is dealing but withering away from this world soon. Amidst it all I have been able to focus on getting three books completed and to the printers, Neo-Kyoto#10, Danger Zoine #7, and Hero Central Universe #1. So some accomplishment among the stressors in my life. I have had little time to exercise however and those depression based cravings for food have reared their ugly heads in time for the holidays. Got to get out more and on the track to lose the pounds that are guest hosting my body this winter quarter. I'll keep more in touch I promise!
Salute. Jason B-

| In the far corner... |
[27 Oct 2009|02:10pm] |
It seems like I am also battling to get things accomplished when it comes to my projects. Well in the meantime of my meandering mental minglings, I will be getting a new revision of my personal website, HeroCentral.org, for the next year. Its a simple approach with html to the site with a scarlet and black color scheme. I have the correct RGB color numbers for each color from http://kuler.adobe.com to create accompanying schemes. I also will use the Sargent's Six Pack font on the logo, bold and closed letters. I want to have this new version of the website done by the end of December so we can pay more attention to the overhaul ofthe main GIRAFNetwork site. It will be a combination of FLASH and HTML. It will combine the Dot Org site, Native Ink Studio, Virtual Resource Library, and Safari Hut sites all into one. It will also give space for the other artists webpages of their own. Its gonna be great!

| Posting today for Tomorrow! |

Next Week Ooot and Abooot.
Well I guess next Monday and Tuesday nights I will be house sitting for my sister up towards Snellville. She and her husband are going on vacation that week to see my recently married cousin in Tennessee. I hope they enjoy those few days together. I on the other hand will be managing an empty house with a lonely grey tabby cat named Criddles. I'll be working on finishing the USNano pages for inking and uploading to our FTP site for toning. I will also be readying the 100 copies of Next...#13 for the ACC show November 15th in Atlanta.
I am trying to get Marques to draw Hey Blip! for the Sobako Kids Manga project that I want to have in print starting January 2010. The release will have 20 pages of a manga story, reviews on kid friendly anime & manga, japanese food receipes for kids, pinup art, etc. I really haven't told him much about this project because I need Keith as a Director to sign off on it to go forward. If I can get him to do so this weekend at the staff meeting then I will talk to Marques about do the Hey Blip! manga. I really am enjoying his style of manga. i would like to see his work on another story in addition to UltraSentaiNanoman. :)
Bad news in spades. I just got a message from Leslie that the POBox rental is due Oct 31st. This is just becoming a pain in my buttocks with little operating liquidity. I guess I will just go ahead and write the check for the rental ($38) and lether drop off he payment tomorrow. I'll write a check ($12) for the remainder of the amount for the OCtober and November dues to be deposited November 1st with Keith's $50 check. Marques is placing his $15 straight into Paypal for me to allow that to be tracked separately. That will keep us going until December. I already pay for the BOX.net monthly charge and the Yahoo monthly charge out of my own pocket each month. Neuvo-Riche straight to No-Mo Riche... :(
Keith called me and told me the issues he has been having with his printer so he also said that he culd get me the $30 cash this Sunday to deposit Monday and order both our FrightFest SixFlag Tickets as well as the advance parking ticket. That way we'll just have them ready for Saturday to leave at 11:30am to get to Six Flags a little after 12 noonish to park and walk straight up to the gates. Marques said he was going to get his own ticket offline this week.I have to remind them to bring cash to pitch in for gas , their $5 part of the parking pass, and money if they want to eat food/drink or go into the Dr Fright's Haunted House :) I can only bring about $30 for the day after the ticket because of what I have to buy this Sunday for my laptop.
Aldi's is selling Medion 10"x6" digital tablets that go through USB into your PC or laptop. The kicker for the whole deal is the larger screen area for half the price of what Bamboo or Intuos is selling them for. Only $49.99 starting 10/25/09, one week only. I am going to go up Sunday when they open and track one down to purchase. I'll even go to several of them if I have to. I have to get this for my artwork on my webcomics especially if I am to learn toning or digital coloring for my comic art. Then I can show it off that night at the staff meeting.
I still need to see if I can get Marques or Bruce can take off that Windows XP specialty OS off my relatively less than new laptop. I want to let Rome start using it to do digital clean up on production even when he isn't over at my place . We have a lot of images to touch up for the Dept of Publications, especially since we can help them out. We don't have to have a high volume computer program to work on touch up's because the images are in black/white/grey. I can probably put my MGI Photosuite program on their to give ROme more MHertz speed on the unit. (( Hey Marques...I am dropping off that laptop again Friday night to see if you guys can take off that extra WinXP Prof OS and leave the other one on there>)
Oh well lock and load!!!

| Weekend Coming Up!!! |
[21 Oct 2009|07:16pm] |
Weekend Coming up!
Well the weekend past has moved me into a week of planned artwork. I have finished three webcomic panels and now I can ink the remaining 16 pages for USNanoman for Marques Huff at GIRAFNetwork. I have to letter HCU#1, DZ#7, and the Kin of Rin Jin story for NK#10 by this weekend as well. Sunday I have to attend the GIRAFNetwork staff meeting as well. A lot of work to accomplish this week before Saturday. Saturday I am spending all day helping my grandparents out with yardwork and weatherproofing their place. Busy weekend planned, so sorry guys I won't be hangin' with any of my friends this weekend. For those of you I don't see this Sunday at the meeting, hopefully I'll catch you on the following weekend at FightFest at Six Flags. BUSY, BUSY, BUSY....
Well I had a very good lunch from Panda Express today. Their new entree FireCracker Chicken Breast is very tasty. The combination of breast tenders woked with pineapple, onion, and red peppers is well complemented. With a water I made my meal complete at my local P.E. here in Lawrenceville, GA. I actually had a whole hour for lunch, unlike the rest ofmy usual days here at work in which the morning patients bleed over into 15 to 25 minutes of my lunch three out of my five day work week. Don't even get me started on the evenings at closing time which is supposed to be 6pm, lol.All in all, a good lunch today.
I just found out about Olivia's PC basically dying over the weekedn from Rome. I am really not sure what to do with that. Maybe it will get her mom to find a freakin job instead of just living off SS and Olivia's money. Maybe Olivia will focus on getting some things planned for ACC or a couple others of these free shows to have a Massage Chair for donations or low fee to raise some of the money she owes to GIRAFNEtwork. I know that I harp on that alot, but we haven't been able to really get any of our books printed in volume we needed to to get into retail stores to make this program self-sufficient. She really needs to start making sculptures again to sell at the shows. Thats where she was making a killing over the last few conventions. Maybe we can pay for the supplies to have a few of her sculptures made like at the last AWA & MOMOCON. We can then sell them at the show for her and split the proceeds if any are made. That way she gets some cash and then also paying back the outstanding tab for back dues. She can then also get a free table and chair to do neck massages at MOMOCON & AWA next year to raise the rest. She'll just then need to make sure that she takes off from her "dayjob" those days. Otherwise its picking up aluminum cans to make the money...
I am working on a couple of new beginner and intermediate artist tools that I think need to be available to all artists out there whether working in sequential art or fine art. I have to state that tehse two designs are already in the process of iling for patent pending recognition. They will greatly increase a student's understanding of how to approach accomplishing perspectives in drawing scenes as well as anatomy in extreme camera angles. The first is a set of connected rulers that change along the sliding sections within the 5 rulers to create up to 3 point perspective linework. Once you choose the horizon line on the central ruler you can then choose the vanishing points either above the horizon line , below it it, or both. This is a great tool to create buildings as well as creating Bird's Eye Views as well as Worm's Eye View panels. The second apparatus that I am working on developing is a Camera Angle Sphere with a mobile wooden anatomy figure in the center. By changing the figure 360 degrees by 360 degrees you can position the View Spot of the Camera Angle along the closest X-Y Axis. The artist can also add another 360 degree option by turning the BOX-Frame over which covers the Z-Axis in that respect. I have always wanted an easy way to determine my character positions in real time to match my Mind's Eye image for the panel. So I am working on getting my prototypes together for these to be ready to submit when my proposal hits the Patent Office reviewer. I think that is really my next step to make OPM to get things off the ground with GIRAFNetwork. Get a couple of design patents, sell a bunch at art shows, conventions, then a small retailer or get a national manufacturer to buy the rights for five million. Then I can get GIRAF working on the 3/4 million annual budget it needs to go full ops across the southeast.Who-hoo!

I am working on a new idea to implement to digital versions of our comics that can be downloaded from our website for a reduced cost. The hardcopy books can still be purchased from Safari Hut as well as Ka-Blam.com but this PDF format will allow many many more people to access quick versions of the books. This will also allow others to get digital previews as freebies, digital versions of the comics they like. It will aslo cut down on the costs of printing from a company standpoint. Hardcopies can be used more for payment of submissions in that respect without a volume issue coming into play. We can also go ahead and create our Literary works for download as well from our site. The cost will be minimal compared to hardcopy printing. If we want we can create whole series of volumes digitally and burn them to MINI-CDs for sales at conventions or events. I can't wait to present the idea to our Publications Dept this week end at the staff meeting.
I know that I am going to do the entire first volume of Conspiracy 101 in this format. I will do a new cover to put on the front of the PDF as well in the jewel case. The rest of the 16 issues will be compiled after that into the cover image. Crypto is starting volume 2 starting January 2010. He says its a really definitive year. The January issue is going to have a cover with the image from the 2010 movie, lol. I can't wait to see what he has come up with since his forced vacation of the last few months.

| A moment of fun |
[11 Oct 2009|10:08am] |
Now that NeoReveng's grandfather has moved on, well physically, as his memory will live on for many many others, things can start to come to closure for his family. We picked him up from the airport after a supposed delay which never materialized. A late dinner at IHOP with a funny waitress named Kishon. She was taken aback by the fact that Neo ordered twice as much food as myself or Bochi then proceeded to scarf it down! We finished late dinner around midnight then went back for a few hours sleep at Neo's apartment. It was fun hanging out over the weekend but I still have to get five more pages inked today to be on schedule.
Jeon's images have been delivered via email. I now have to complete the bio data on them and that will be two more pages completed for the Neo Kyoto 10 issue. We have the table for March's MOMOCON reserved and now come January-February we'll be reserving an AA table for AWA 2010. All within reach these days, it seems, lol.

| Practice what you preach! |
[09 Oct 2009|03:00pm] |
Practice What You Preach! I have have a few issues with several of my fellow staff members at both my jobs these last few weeks where it was evident that they had no intention of completing requirements of them. It has become continually frustrating at both jobs with the lackadaisical attitude to communicationissues. Everyone wants to preach to others how important it is to communicate with each otherbut noone wants to communicate. All I can say is that I am losing what respect I had for myfellow managers and employees because they obviously have no respect for me at this stage.Communication of intent, desire, requirement, obligation, and assignment is necessary to meet all obligations especially on a team. I will be addressing proper communication at both jobs with everyone that I deal with. If this doesn't improve, I will be making drastic changes in how I deal with co-workers and management. Communication is a two way street. If I request information from you then I expect a response, timely is appreciated, but there better be a response. If someone requests anything from me I give them the dignity and respect to answer that inquiry. I may not have the answer or resolution they desire, but I at least acknowledge that it was asked of me. This is a simple courtesy in this age of electronic wonder. There is no excuse honestly not to have a profound interaction of communication between people. Email. Phones. Cell phones.Social Communities Online. Texting. Postal Service Mail. Carrier Pidgeon. Pony Express. Smoke Signals. Telepathy....You get my point. There are many ways to comunicate, but they all require an active interaction on the part of the parties involved. What is required is respect for other people and their time. Often times respect for other people is lost because of such infantile approaches to communication. The danger therein is that we all become like the people we don't like to deal with because we fall into the same routines of lack of communication. I hate giving ultimatums. This time I have no choice as it has gone on long enough, more than a year now for several co-workers. In order for me to work with you as part of a team then I expect, nay demand, that if I request infromation from you on any given day during reasonable time frames then you better reply to me. A reasonable time for a minimal response is one hour for those with cell phones connected to their emails and one day for those with email extenuating circumstances. No more than that time for a minimal response. There it is. There is the line in the sand and the gauntlet. We are bound by obligation as a team to work towards the settling efforts to complete those requirements as a sum of the whole. For a few of you this whole issue is non-existent. There are however a few that lately have become the ant under the scrutiny of the magnifying glass as it were. A word of warning, soon that insect under the magnifying glass feels the convexing burn of scrutiny before too long. Thank you for those who respond timely, even if its to say thatyou can't aquiesce to my request at that time. That is at least appreciated and respectful. I will show you the same respect as long as you show me the same dignity. If you feel that you have been ignored in the times of late then perhaps you need to review how you are treating others with communication in mind.

Yeah yeah I know. The old guy is still around. Actually that is what has kept me off the internet lately. Its been good this week so far. but I still have to get my two walking days in this week as well as pay rent for the end of the month tomorrow night. I am meeting Bochi_za_rasu this Friday evening for a walk at the track park locally but that leaves another day this weekend I have to walk. 100 lbs to go on my diet. | Back from vacation! |

Back from vacation!
Labor day week...St.Pete Beach, Florida...paid time off on top of that...I can't say that the week was a total loss, lol. I didn't get to draw any on my projects like I wanted to, but I did go just about everywhere with my friend NeoReveng and his roommate Bruce. It was a physically taxing week , always on the run, but mentally it was a very slack week. I read the latest Dr Who novel, The Doctor Trap, watched How Stella Got Her Groove Back, played a three hour game of Scrabble, and wrote 9 pages on my hyperstory Nan-Knights. All that amidst beach combing, picture taking, Seaworld, Best Buy, Panera, and lunch/dinners at Crabby Bill's, Colonnade, Buonos, Midland Peninsula's Seafood Market and Restaurant, Georgie Boy's, Publix, Chili's and Larry's Ice Cream Shop. What a week of being on the go. The Sirata Beach Hotel was not up to par overall but we survived it in the end.
I came back to Georgia in a different frame of mind from my vacation. I re-outlined what I need to get completed by the end of this month. I have quite a bit to get completed for UFO and then I can start working on finishing up the GIRAF projects by the end of October. I think that I will be able to get a couple more printed releases out by the end of the year, especially Land of Zoa #2 of 5. I have been taking longer on that release to really get a lot of background details on the pages. Its taking a little longer than I planned, but its okay. I will survive. LOL.

| From the beachside...Hey everyone!!!! |

From the beachside....
What a day down here. 8 hours of driving down from Ga to FLorida. The highlight of the sojourn's beginnining detailed around the facts that Florida doesn't have kudzu like Ga. nor the massive amount of pine trees either. Spanish Moss however dotted the skyline. Almost every tree sprouted the Spanish beard. That was interesting. We made the way into the 275 entry point to St Petersburg Beach. The Sirata Beach Hotel looks okay. Its a little retro on the 70's side of looks but that seems to be par for the course on the strip down here...awful color schemes en masse! The hotel is nice but there are some specific issues that did bother me. There is a $10 charge per day for internet access and the bathrooms are like a small penny spent cubicle on the London tube. Impossible is a better word. Other than that its okay. Marques and Bruce were not happy with the lack of channel selection on the TV, but he seems to have helped Stella get her groove back on tonight, lol! The Pier is definitely a great experience with its mini-aquarium and horde of bird life. Speaking of bird life, Bruce, Marques and I were over at JOhn Pass' boardwalk looking for the Arcade where we got a frozen custard. Bruce was attacked by a seagull. It half the top of his waffle cone. They gave us another one but it was actually hilarious. Almost like one of those when wild animals attack! It was unbelievable.
As for dining...I wholeheartedly endorse Crabby Bill's seafood restaurant on St Pete Beach strip as well as Colonade of Bayside Blvd in Tampa. Tomorrow we check out Seaworld. Should be ORCA great!
